This year I have set myself a goal of seeing my Yon-ka skin therapist once a month. Over the years I have promised that I would attend monthly appointments but like my new year’s gym resolution I did not succeed. I am really chuffed with myself for putting in the effort as like with a new exercise plan, the results have paid off.
A facial is like a months exercise for my skin it noticeably improves how my skin feels and looks. Even though I am getting older my skin has never looked better. If I want my skin to look its best then I have to look after it.
My regular facial is like a tonic for my skin, and an hour away to stop worrying about all of the little things that keep my brain in overdrive every day. My therapist informed me that after my professional treatments my skin is better equipped to absorb the anti-aging products I am using which help to regenerate my skins cells. I have always invested in a good anti aging moisturizer but it is only now I am seeing the benefits.
This depends largely on the type facial you have. The general aim of most facials is the same.
Your skin therapist will always start with a deep Cleanse to remove surface dirt and dead cells and pollution from our pores.
Exfoliate is a very important step in every facial. This removes dead cells leaving the skin brighter and also allows everything else applied during the facial penetrate deeper into the skin. Exfoliation can help unclog your pores and prepares the skin for extractions.
Extraction is the part of a facial where your therapist removes blackheads. Extractions take place after the skin has been thoroughly cleansed and exfoliated. It is important to have blackheads removed by your therapist who can do it much more safely than we can. Your therapist can extract without marking the skin or allowing a breakout to reoccur after the extraction.
Massage tackles the daily stress that can result in tension which builds up in our muscles. Forehead furrows and lines can form between the brows and along the lip line. Massage can help relax these muscles helping to decrease the lines from forming. Yonka combine their massage with a hydrating moisturizer which can also minimize lines and dryness.
Your therapist may choose a Mask to detoxify or hydrate your skin. By working with your therapist you are getting a proper analysis helping you to understand what works for your skin type.
How often should I have a facial?
Yon-ka recommend once a month – that is how long it takes for the dead cells to be shed and for new cells to reach the surface. If you really look after your skin with regular preventative treatments, you will keep the skin hydrated and look more youthful. I am finally happy with the skin I am in!!
